How to Make Candied Pecans

Candied pecans are, in my opinion, one of the great things - crispy, sweet, salty, YUM. These can be added atop salads, alongside cheeses, in savory dishes for an added sweetness and crunch, or eaten all by themselves. Not only are candied pecans delicious but they're SO easy to make (which can be dangerous). This recipe makes a lot, but trust me, they disappear quickly. Extra pecans can be sealed in a container and kept in a cool, dry place.

Candied Pecans

(Yields 1 pound)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 pound pecan halves

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 250°F
  2. Mix together sugar, cinnamon and salt; set aside
  3. Whisk egg white and water together in a bowl until frothy. Toss pecans in egg white mixture
  4. Toss coated pecans in sugar mixture (make sure they're evenly coated)
  5. Spread coated pecans onto a baking sheet
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring pecans every 15 minutes, until pecans are evenly browned

Enjoy - and try not to eat them all!
